Introduction
Building a dream is not easy, but I’m thrilled to say I’ve done it and learned a lot about the publishing business. The following is a list of 36 things I learned along the way, many of which are a blessing.
Lessons Learned
- I understand that publishing is not for the faint of heart.
- I met interesting people along the way.
- I discovered a lot about people.
- I learned a great deal about myself.
- I learned how a story can affect others.
- I realize how easy it is to be distracted.
- The book has inspired me to keep cranking out books.
- It’s taught me to persevere.
- I grasped how, in due time, my book will come out.
- It’s taught me how to handle setbacks/obstacles.
- I’ve learned that God is good.
- My book taught me to keep on working on my craft.
- I’ve learned that writing and publishing take time.
- It’s taught me that writing is a worthy art.
- It’s taught me that people can destroy your dream if you let them.

- Patience.
- Flexibility.
- Decision-making.
- People are interested in what I do.
- Not everyone is supportive.
- It takes a bit of money to publish independently.
- Publishing is not an easy undertaking.
- Not to let others interfere with my vision of the story.

- When I reach a goal or a dream, I must keep going.
- It’s a lonely world at times.
- How to confront my fears.
- Fears are real.
- How to be courageous.
- Help is available.
- Things won’t always go as planned.
- To call on God.
- To depend on God.
- To have greater faith.
The greatest of lessons:
- Dreams do come true.
- Most importantly, I’ve learned that God is faithful and that all glory belongs to Him who has stood beside me throughout my book’s publication.
Conclusion
Writing a book from scratch and without any knowledge of the publishing business has been a learning experience, and I continue to grow. I hope the blessings I received from publishing a book have inspired you in some way. With a good mindset and a desire to achieve, you can do anything.
