Elvira Burgo is a writer and narrator of children’s books. She earned her master’s degree in teaching from the University of Charleston, South Carolina, and taught elementary school. An expert in early childhood education and happiness, Elvira believes reading and learning should be interesting. “That’s how children become lifelong readers and learners” she states.
As founder and president of Antelope Valley Happiness Club, Elvira facilitated meetings and offered happiness tips to adults. A seed was planted when the club conducted a children’s book drive. Elvira’s attention later turned towards children. “Children deserve happiness, too.” A former youth mentor with United We Mentor, a library volunteer of preschool story time, and a parent of three children, Elvira considers herself a champion for children.
Elvira earned a certificate in broadcasting from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Florida. “I found my voice there,” she recalls. “Voice over courses and commercial recordings taught by industry professionals intrigued me.” After graduating, Elvira interned at a television commercial station and worked for King World Productions.
“Although it doesn’t always happen, I try to teach something in my writing. I also want the stories to come alive,” Elvira adds. Apart from writing and narrating children’s books, Elvira blogs, collaborates with various organizations, conducts literacy activities, events, and research. In her free time, Elvira enjoys walking, listening to instrumental music, and spending time with family and friends.
Elvira resides in Southern California with her husband.
